  1. MASE is the Adaptive Spectral Estimator by Wesley Hertel and Steven
  2. Seidl v.1.0 (dated 1987).  This is a program that simulates the spectral
  3. characteristics of a described signal.  This program will transform a
  4. time domain signal into the frequency  domain.  Unlike time-frequency
  5. transforms such as the FFT, this program does not sample a actual signal
  6. but instead generates the frequency  domain  characteristics from a
  7. hypothetical signal.  Signals are described to the ASE in the form of
  8. signal descriptive parameters.  You, the user may describe a signal of
  9. interest using the following descriptive characteristics/parameters:
  10.         * Timebase (seconds, milliseconds, microseconds, nanoseconds)
  11.         * Carrier (Hertz, Kilohertz, megahertz, Gigahertz)
  12.         * Phase type (Absolute, Coherent, Differential, Random, Reference)
  13.         * Amplitude (Volts)
  14.         * Duration (dependent on Timebase setting)
  15.         * Position (dependent on Timebase setting)
  16.         * Phase (360 degrees)
  17. The above descriptive characteristics/parameters may be manipulated in a
  18. virtually  unrestricted manner.  Users of the FFT algorithm will
  19. appreciate  the  ability  to  create  the  spectrum  of  signals at RF
  20. frequency  (with  virtually unlimited resolution), and users who do not
  21. know  anything  about  spectroscopy  may  find this program graphically
  22. interesting if nothing  else.  GEM based. Mono only (a separate color
